Eco-Lush is a new yarn base designed and developed by Nurturing Fibres. A fingerweight cotton and bamboo blend perfect for light weight shawls, summer cardigans and (winter scarves in our warm Australian climate) baby garments and everything in between. Also suitable to weave with on rigid heddle looms to make gorgeous wearable fabrics. We are in love with the botanically inspired colourway.
You'll find a wealth of patterns suitable for this yarn on the Nurturing Fibres website as well as Ravelry.
About Nurturing Fibres
Based in South Africa, Nurturing Fibres have developed their dyeing methods over the last 12 years and for a relatively small production facility, have implemented some fantastic measures to mitigate the environmental impact of dyeing and increase socioeconomic benefits to the local community. Wastewater from the dye process is treated and used to irrigate the olive orchard and staff vegetable garden, and heating for the dye process is solar powered.
They hand select yarns to ensure they are the best quality merino wool, mohair and cotton available. They are proud of the high quality fibres that South African farmers produce, so [with the exception of cashmere] work with yarns that come from SA farms and are locally spun.
Colour ways are dyed in small dye lots to ensure a high standard and uniqueness - always only using OEKO Tex certified dyes.
